In many applications, however, it is essential to accurately calculate the NOx value by measuring the effectively measured NO and NO2 values in the exhaust gas. The following success factors are relevant for NOx determination: Fast transport in the sample extraction system (with small diameter at maximum pump performance), prevention of condensate formation (including through PTFE probe tubing and the flue gas cooler), and additional drying of the gas through the flue gas cooler. With ecom flue gas analysis devices, NOx measurements can be performed using the following measurement methods with varying levels of accuracy:
- Electrochemical Measurement (NO and NO2 Gas Sensor)
- Chemical Luminescence (CLD) for NO measurement in combination with an NO2 gas sensor (electrochemical measurement)
- Chemical Luminescence (CLD) in combination with a converter that converts NO2 to NO, thereby making the nitrogen oxides (NOx) completely measurable.
- Chemical Luminescence (CLD) for NO measurement in combination with Photoacoustic Spectroscopy (PAS) for NO2 measurement
